What to expect
Upon arrival in Unarin-Luusua, we will equip you with snowshoes and introduce you to the route. Depending on the weather conditions and your fitness and experience level, we will choose either a shorter or longer trip. We'll bring you by snowmobile sledge to the start of the trail. The route takes you through forests and open swamp landscapes, with a climb to a hilltop offering panoramic views. If conditions are right, you may see ice-covered tyyky trees. The longer route passes by a scenic canyon.
A backpack containing a rustic lunch, cold and hot drinks, and first-aid equipment will be provided for the trip. Lunch includes traditional reindeer herder’s meat soup, Karelian pie and sweet pastries for dessert. Please inform us in advance of any allergies or dietary requirements so we can accommodate your needs. We can offer gluten-free, lactose-free, vegetarian, and vegan options.
Back at the village, a hot lakeside sauna awaits, along with the opportunity to take a refreshing dip in the icy water. Unwind after your hike in the peaceful surroundings. Towels, toiletries, and sauna scents are provided for your comfort. In the living room beside the sauna, you'll find board and card games as well as books about Lapland.
The sauna cottage is reserved exclusively for your private use, allowing you to enjoy the experience at your own pace. Located directly by the lake, far from any light pollution, it also offers an ideal setting for admiring the northern lights and the star-filled sky.
For dinner, you will be served an exquisite charcuterie board featuring a selection of local delicacies.
